What are the requirements to work with Amazon?

You must have a valid EU Transport License (O-License in the UK), VAT number and meet minimum insurance requirements.

What capabilities will be enabled through Amazon Relay?

Amazon Relay is a suite of technology products that enable carriers to self-register with Amazon and find, book, and execute Amazon loads. This includes capabilities to accept loads, assign drivers, access Amazon’s Relay Load Board, track performance, view and download payment details and raise issues. Carriers also get access to our mobile based Relay app (iOS and Android) which enables drivers to view and manage load status, report delays, and use truck friendly commercial navigation. All carriers and drivers are required to use our Amazon Relay products for all Amazon loads.

What are the minimum insurance requirements?

Your insurance must meet the following requirements:

United Kingdom

  • Public Liability insurance £1,000,000
  • Motor insurance: £1,200,000
  • Goods-in-transit insurance: RHA £9,000 per ton OR £100,000 full value liability/all risks per vehicle
  • UK Operating License

Ireland

  • Cargo Legal Liability: 8.33 SDR/kg
  • Automobile (Fleet or Moto): EUR1,200,00
  • Irish Operating License

France

  • Assurance CMR / marchandises – un minimum de 100,000 € par sinistre aux marchandises confiées pour les transports nationaux et internationaux : 8,33 SDR/kg
  • Assurance flotte ou carte(s) verte(s), en fonction du nombre de véhicules avec une couverture d’au moins 1 220 000.

Italia

  • Assicurazione CMR / vettoriale in vigore con copertura minima di €36.000 per trasporti nazionali e di €100.000 (8,33 SDR/kg) internazionali. Anche ammessa sessione/clausola “Per Conto di Amazon”.
  • Responsabilità Civile Autoveicoli (RCA): assicurazione di uno o più mezzi con copertura minima di 1.220.000EUR per danni materiali e 6.070.000EUR per lesione personale(a seconda del numero dei veicoli). Accettate anche carte verdi dei singoli mezzi.

How long before can I start moving loads?

Once we receive your company’s completed application, the application will be approved or rejected within 1-4 weeks. Delays, if any, will be due to validation of insurance information. Once your application is approved and initial Relay training is complete, you will immediately be able to book loads from our load board. You will also be able to access Amazon Relay Portal FAQs and operating guides for existing carriers that will provide useful information on how to operate successfully within our network.

Will I be able to access Amazon’s spot capacity?

Yes, our Load Board will show the spot loads that are available for instant booking. You can filter the available loads to match your needs, check the details of each load and book them.

What type of equipment does Amazon work with?

We work with standard 13.6m box and curtain-sided trailers. We also provide opportunities to work with other equipment types such as 7.5T trucks, tractor units and different Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs).

In which areas does Amazon operate?

We have a fast-growing and highly dense network across all of the major countries in the UK and continental Europe. The main countries where we operate are Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Who should I contact if I have any issues during the registration process?

Who can I contact if I encounter problem or an issue while executing loads for Amazon?

Amazon provides 24/7 operational support for our carriers through the Relay Operations Center (ROC). ROC can be reached through the Relay portal or Relay mobile.

Performance

What are the service level expectations?

Amazon requires that carriers ensure the highest level of safety and performance, including:

  • Compliance with safety and insurance requirements.
  • On-time delivery to delight our customer promise.
  • Consistent tender acceptance.
  • Execute loads using Amazon Relay technology.

How can I track my performance?

Amazon provides a transparent performance scorecard in the Amazon Relay portal. You can review your performance for all of your loads, in order to continuously improve and have the opportunity to grow your business with Amazon.

Payments

When will I get paid for completed work?

Payment cycle runs weekly from Sunday-Saturday. Everything completed before 23:59 Saturday will be paid out the following week on Friday. This might be delayed is disputes or accessorial charges cases are raised.

How do I submit an invoice for a load?

Amazon Relay will generate invoices automatically. You will be able to review all invoices and payments in Amazon Relay portal.

What do I do if I have a payment issue?

You can submit payment disputes directly through Amazon Relay portal after reviewing your weekly invoice.

Value-Added Services

How to qualify for Value-Added Services benefits?

If you have signed up as a carrier in Relay with Amazon, you qualify for these benefits.

What discounts will carriers have access to?

The programme includes access to exclusively negotiated discounts on fuel across Europe with Shell, cashback on tyres with Goodyear, and more. To get more details, please visit the Value Added Services (VAS) page.

Do carriers have to sign up for Value Added Services (VAS) in order to deliver for Amazon?

No. Carriers are free to procure vehicles and other business assets from any source of their choosing. On the other hand, Amazon encourages you to take advantage of the Value-Added Services to improve your margins. In either case, the carrier should meet Amazon’s operational requirements mentioned in their carrier agreement.
